《比较、借鉴与前瞻:国际移民书信研究》作为“十二五”乃至今后一段时期侨务工作和文化强省建设的重点工程，编修工作是一项艰巨复杂的浩大工程，要确保客观、真实、全面记述和展现广东华侨历史。必须把收集抢救史料摆在整个修史工作的突出位置，最广泛地动员各方力量全面收集抢救史料。有鉴于此，《广东华侨史》编撰委员会组织召开广东华侨史料的开发与利用专题研讨会，《比较、借鉴与前瞻:国际移民书信研究》为本次探讨会论文集，由江门五邑大学刘进教授主编。
