尊敬的海外粤籍侨团：
　　广东人移民海外历史长、规模大，分布广，在世界移民史、人类文明史和中国发展史上均写下了光辉的篇章。粤籍华侨社团是海外粤侨社会的中坚力量，在团结侨胞、维护侨益、促进中外交流等方面发挥了不可替代的作用。粤籍华侨社团历史是粤籍华侨历史的重要部分。最近，广东省委、省政府决定组织力量编修一部系统、科学、权威的《广东华侨史》，全面总结梳理广东华侨移民海外、谋生、发展、融入、贡献的历史和规律，以史为鉴推动广东新一轮发展。为做好《广东华侨史》编修工作，广东省委、省政府成立了以省长朱小丹任组长，副省长招玉芳、省侨办主任吴锐成等任副组长的领导小组，并把办公室设在省侨办，由省侨办主任吴锐成兼任办公室主任。编修《广东华侨史》不仅是广东的大事，也是海外侨胞的喜事，我们希望广大海外侨胞、侨团积极参与其中，协力同心、共襄盛举。为配合《广东华侨史》编修工程，从今年起，我们准备开展华侨史料收集抢救工作，并将收集到的史料选编出版《广东华侨史料丛书》。特敬请各粤籍侨团踊跃撰写本社团的历史和本属华侨的历史概况，或者将现有社团特刊中的本社团历史和本属华侨概况复印寄给我们（复印时请抄录附上原书书名、作者名字、出版机构和出版时间、起止页码）。有关资料请于2013年8月1日前寄中国广东省广州市二沙岛海山街8号《广东华侨史》编修工作领导小组办公室。

Solicit Historical Materials for Overseas Cantonese Societies

Reverent Overseas Cantonese Societies,
The Overseas Cantonese have written down a brilliant chapter in either history of world immigration, history of human civilization and history of China’s development, which is due to their long history, massive emigration and widespread countries.
The Overseas Cantonese Societies are core forces of overseas Cantonese, playing an irreplaceable role in uniting overseas Cantonese, protecting the interests of overseas Cantonese, and advancing China’s international communication. The history of Overseas Cantonese Societies is one part of the whole history of overseas Cantonese.
Recently, Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Government have decided to compile a systematic, scientific and authoritative Guangdong Overseas Chinese History, trying to make a comprehensive conclusion about history of the Cantonese emigrating, making a living abroad, integrating into the local, and  making a contribution to both the countries of residence and China. In order to do a good job in compiling Guangdong Overseas Chinese History, Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Government have formed a specific Leadership Group Office
for Compiling Guangdong Overseas Chinese History, Governor Zhu Xiaodan of Guangdong Provincial People’s Government acts as chairman, vice-governor Zhao Yu-fang, Director Wu Rui-cheng of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, etc. as vice-chairman. The specific Office, with Wu Rui-cheng doubling down its director, is located in Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province.
Compiling Guangdong Overseas Chinese History is not only a great event for Guangdong, but also a happy thing for overseas Chinese. We urgently need the attention, support and participation of the overseas Cantonese. In coordination with the compilation of Guangdong Overseas Chinese History, we are ready, from this year on, to rescue the historical materials of overseas Cantonese, and we will select some of them to publish the Series for Historical Materials of Overseas Cantonese. We respectfully invite all of you to write the history of your society and send your products to us, or copy the existing products concerning your society’s history in your journals or magazines (please enclose the names of original book, author, and publishing house, and publishing time, start-stop page). Please send us all concerned materials before August 1, 2013.
